What are Socially Responsible Investments (SRI)?

• Socially Responsible Investments began by excluding companies that invested in alcohol, tobacco, weapons and firearms, gambling, etc. 
• They also include looking at the Social, Environmental & Governance standards of a company.  Some of these include how they treat their employees, the health and safety of their products and people, how companies are working to reduce their waste and recycle, are they using alternative energy?  What about their corporate governance?  How do they run their company, treat their employees and are they transparent in their business practices?
